MATT STEMPECK
Matt specializes in online communications for nonprofits, campaigns, and cool businesses. He graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, where he wrote a thesis on the evolving role of blogs in political communications. Matt has done neat things with Environment & Energy TV, EchoDitto, Americans for Campaign Reform, and as of 2010, the New Organizing Institute. Matt also co-hosts the popular monthly Netsquared DC event that brings together innovators from the tech and nonprofit worlds. And loves it.
HATEF YAMINI
Hatef Yamini is a successful leader and entrepreneur experienced in developing the Web presence, strategic communication plans, and online marketing campaigns for nonprofits across a wide range of sectors including human rights, energy and healthcare. Since 2006, he has served as the co-organizer of NetSquared DC, helping nonprofits leverage technology for social change.
His industry specializations include strategic marketing, social media, organizational blogging, e-mail marketing, management and business development. He has held leadership roles at major corporations including Apple and Sprint. Most recently his work at Care2.com (the world’s largest activist social network) focused on the intersection of technology and social change in the nonprofit sector – providing a unique perspective on innovative solutions to the online marketing and communications needs of over 500 nonprofits.
NOAH KUNIN
Noah Kunin is the Multimedia Content Producer for the Sunlight Foundation. He leads the conceptualization and production of high-quality, creative and persuasive visual content that works in concert with articles and initiatives across the Sunlight Foundation’s network. He also works with the latest technologies and open video community to connect government data to video content.
Noah has an eclectic background in video journalism, government, genetic engineering and non-profit technology management. Before Sunlight, he was the Senior Political Correspondent for The UpTake, a citizen-fueled, online video news gathering organization known for its exhaustive live-streaming coverage of the 2008 Recount and Election Contest Trial between Norm Coleman and Al Franken.
PAULA BRANTNER
Paula Brantner, Executive Director of Workplace Fairness, returns to the organization after serving as its Program Director from 2002 to 2007, writing legal content for the Webby-nominated site www.workplacefairness.org. Most recently, Paula was the Program Director for Working America, the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, and the Working America Education Fund. An employment lawyer for over 17 years, Paula has degrees from UC-Hastings College of the Law and Michigan State University, James Madison College.
After Workplace Fairness incorporated the suggestions made by NetSquaredDC attendees into a website redesign that led to the site’s second Webby nomination, Paula deepened her involvement in NetSquared by becoming a co-organizer in 2009. She is passionate about helping accidential nonprofit techies like herself, especially in organizations with limited resources and technology staff, successfully use innovative online strategies to fulfill their organization’s mission.
BARRET JONES
Barrett is a videographer who documents the work of interesting individuals and organizations. He also teaches beginners how to use video technology. He has a Masters in Information Science from UCLA and has worked for such organizations as the RAND Corporation and the International Monetary Fund. In his free time he is an Education Coordinator at Common Good City Farm.
